Day 6
The cards definitely seem to be cater to tourists more. First service at hotel, now rooms. Should begin grammar and more important words soon.
Words from cards:
- Das Einzelzimmer - single room (at a hotel)
- Der Ehemann - husband/a married man
- Die Prüfung - examination/exam (cause… you’re proofin’? haha, get it?!…)
- falsch - wrong/false/incorrect/imitation/forged. “Фальш”
- Der Vater (Väter pl.) - father (duh). V sounds as F, neato
- vor - ago
- Die Küche - kitchen. Makes sense, kochen is “cook” (maybe unrelated but better for memory)
- Die Hausaufgabe(n) - homework (see 2 words below)
- nichts - nothing
- wann - when
Words learned impromptu:
- Das Einzel (from first card word) seems to be “singles” as in 1v1 sport
- Die Ehe(n) - marriage (though ehe is also before?)
- Der Termin - appointment/deadline/date/engagement. But NOT the “Can I take you to the pictures?” kind of date, and not “You may now kiss” engagement. The “When do we have an exam?” and “Please attend the meeting at 10”. This particular German word doesn’t sound romantic because it isn’t, and not because German. Oh yeah also it means “hearing” as in law.
- Der Schmetterling - butterfly/moth (remembered after previous word :D)
- Die Zeit(en) - time
- Der Zeitpunkt - (present) moment
- Der Herd - cooker/stove
- Das Haus - house (duh)
- Die Aufgabe - task/responsibility/exercise(school)
- helfen - help or assist
- kommen - come/arrive (ohhh so bekommen is receive and… right)
- Der Laden (ä) - shop/store
- beladen - loaded (hm, and stores are loaded. Also, cargo is Die Ladung)
- anrufen - call (dial up), call to (HEYO!), appeal to (?)
- um - around
- Die Verabredung - a proper date (with someone, preferable special), though it can be used for normal arrangements too??. Unreliable sources say “Das Date” works informally, but I wouldn’t put much trust in that. Also haha, “Вера бредунг”.
