About me
Hi! I am a Theoretical Computer Science student from Moscow, Russian Federation. Though a degree doesn’t define me well; I love many things:
- Writing. Though I haven’t published anything of note yet, this might be my favourite activity. Piecing words together, editing them to sound better, coming up with ideas. Like programming, it offers the challenge of elegantly solving “problems”.
- Books. It’s natural I would equally enjoy reading. My favourite is To Kill a Mockingbird.
- Video games. Though I have far less time for them these days, they offer countless wonderful experiences impossible in other media. I sometimes write about what I play.
- Music. After avoiding it for the first 18 years of my life, I started listening and loved discovering more ever since. Right now, my favourite genres are post-rock, progressive rock, and post-punk; there are a lot of outlier bands or albums as well. I want to eventually become proficient with a musical instrument, probably the piano.
- Stationery. Getting a fountain pen for free helped me realise I love them. I now own dozens of pens, countless bottles of ink, and even an East German typewriter. I put them to good use, using a bullet journal for organising my life and writing by hand daily.
- Much, much more.
I began coding in high school and eventually realised this might be something I’d enjoy doing as a job. Some of my code can be found on my Forgejo instance and GitHub. I use my own physical servers for various tasks because it’s magical; here are black boxes in my room that do things, and I can choose what these things are. That’s partly why I have this website too, I can tinker with anything.
Despite this, I would not describe myself as a “techie”. Over the years, I’ve found the culture surrounding software engineering increasingly annoying, and the advent of Artificial Intelligence only exacerbated this. I’ve second guessed my career choice, but I still fundamentally love the concepts of the internet, personal computers, and what they can offer. I’m just ambivalent on what we’re doing with them.
If you want, you can contact me, see what things I use, or learn how this site was built.
